Johnny Cash Album Booklet

Prior to the pandemic shutting the world down, I was fast approaching completion of a typography course at the Seattle School of Visual Concepts. The culminating project was a long-form editorial inspired by famous bodies of musical work.

I chose to do mine on Johnny Cash's final album, 'American IV: The Man Comes Around.' I centered the design around his cover of 'Hurt' and set the pacing based on the stages of depression that Cash faced near his end of life. Additionally, towards the end, Cash was noted as having vericose veins. This inspired the vein like illustrations and blood splatter seen across the pages.
